New tennis shots of court no.1 served up
Images of the new roof for Court Number One at the All England Tennis Club in Wimbledon have been revealed, with the structure on track for delivery in 2019.
Court Number One will be the second of the show courts to be equipped with a roof at the world-famous tennis grounds, after the installation of a similar feature for Centre Court was completed in 2009.
The new retractable roof will allow for uninterrupted play irrespective of the weather, as is currently the case for Centre Court.
The two roofs together will guarantee tennis for around 27,000 spectators on the two main show courts.
Court Number One will also be remodeled – new wider seating is due to be installed, along with two additional tiers of around 900 seats.
A two-level plaza will replace Court 19.
