Wimbledon hotel plans submitted
Plans to transform disused banking buildings in Wimbledon into a hotel have been submitted for approval to Merton Council.
Developer Walhill showcased proposals in January 2018 to refurbish and expand the existing Bank Buildings on Wimbledon Hill Road in the town centre, with a mixed-use scheme comprising retail space at ground level and the rest of the building for hotel use.
Speaking on behalf of Walhill, Paul Dimoldenberg of publicist firm Quattro PR, said: "The proposals for the new hotel and shops will give a new life to the refurbished Bank Buildings so that it once again makes a positive contribution to the local area, as well as proving new jobs and new shops to serve the community.
"We have engaged positively with local residents and listened carefully to all the comments and suggestions made; this proposal will not only give Bank Buildings a new economic use but will ensure that it will brought back to its former glory."
